"Player One Joins The Game"
A familiar face returns as Dave Player joins Team Cal38 to help shape the next chapter of Caleb McDuff’s racing journey.
Some stories don’t begin with introductions, they begin with history.
Team Cal38 is proud to welcome Dave Player as Business Development Manager, joining Ian McDuff as Caleb continues to build what is already shaping up to be an extraordinary racing career.
For Dave, this isn’t just a new role, it’s the continuation of a story that began years ago…….
After almost a decade of adventure establishing and leading Team BRIT, Dave brings a rare blend of experience to Team Cal38: building race teams from the ground up, developing young talent, forming long-term commercial partnerships, and turning ambitious plans into deliverable reality. It’s knowledge earned the hard way – on circuits, in paddocks, in negotiation rooms, and through countless lessons learned.
But there’s a deeper connection here.
Dave loves his claim to fame that he “discovered” Caleb, back when Caleb was 15 years old. It was Dave who persuaded him to join Team BRIT.
“From the very first moment, it was clear this wasn’t an ordinary young driver” Dave says, “Caleb didn’t just impress with his charm and quick wit – though both were impossible to ignore. What truly stood out was his ability to drive anything like he’d been doing it his entire life: calm, fearless, and instinctive.”
“At just 16, racing against far more experienced adult competitors, Caleb progressed at a staggering rate. He moved swiftly from a BMW 1 Series into a 450bhp BMW M240i, before stepping up again into the McLaren 570S GT4. Each step brought new challenges, and each time, Caleb delivered: blisteringly quick, consistently competitive, and impressively reliable.”
When Ian later approached Dave about joining Team Cal38 and shared the three-year vision for Caleb’s future, the decision didn’t take long.
“This wasn’t a vague ambition or a hopeful dream. It was a serious, structured, well-thought-out programme, exactly the kind of challenge I thrive on.”
Now reunited in this exciting new environment, Dave’s focus will be on helping Caleb grow and maximise his potential both on and off the track: strengthening partnerships, building sustainable opportunities, and ensuring that every step of the journey is supported by long-term thinking.
“I’m genuinely excited about the adventure ahead. And hugely proud to be asked to contribute to the next chapter of Caleb’s racing career.”
Ian McDuff, Calebs dad and manager said “Dave has been a big part of Caleb’s story. When I shared with him where we want to take this next chapter, his belief in the plan and his willingness to come on board meant a great deal. Having someone with Dave’s experience alongside us gives this programme real strength.”
Caleb added “I’ve known Dave’s support from the moment I joined Team BRIT, and I’m thrilled to have him with us as we chase the next phase of my career.”
Some partnerships are planned. Others feel inevitable. This one feels like the start of something special.
