“The First Time” — Caleb Takes Dad Out in the McLaren
February 25, 2024 – Portimão, Portugal.
Pre-season testing had begun, and for Caleb, it marked the start of something big.
It was his first time behind the wheel of the McLaren 570S GT4 — a car he would be racing in the 2025 Britcar Endurance Championship with Team BRIT. The car was faster, louder, more physical — everything about it demanded more. And Caleb delivered.
But what happened off the stopwatch was more powerful than any lap time.
For the very first time, Caleb’s dad, Ian, climbed into the passenger seat of one of his son’s race cars. After years of watching from the sidelines, listening to feedback, and following every corner from the garage, Ian would finally experience what Caleb is truly capable of — from inside the cockpit.
It was a short lap. Just a few minutes. But it meant everything.
For Caleb, it was a chance to show his dad the result of years of work — the speed, the precision, the instinct that can’t be seen from trackside. For Ian, it was a moment filled with pride, nerves, emotion, and total admiration.
Organised by Team BRIT, this was more than a PR moment. It was personal. Emotional. Real. It was a father seeing his son in his world, in control of a 500+ horsepower GT car, doing what he was born to do — in complete silence.
And when the lap ended, neither of them could speak.
